We know Amazon as the one stop shop for everything. Be it computer desks, or winter jackets and even trendy products from TikTok—you want it, Amazon will supply it. But did you know that you can also save big by adding your FSA card to your Prime account? That’s right. The e-commerce website allows you to shop a host FSA-approved products from the comfort of your own home and may even offer better prices in some cases. Find out more below.

First, let’s break down what an FSA account is.
According to their official website, an FSA or flexible spending account is “an employer-sponsored healthcare benefit that allows employees to set aside up to $2,750 annually in pre-tax dollars to cover the cost of qualified medical expenses.” That means you can save almost $3,000 per year, which would ordinarily go to taxes.
One condition of having a flexible spending account is that you need to spend all your money by the end of the plan year. Otherwise, you’re subject to losing it. In the event that you aren’t able to spend it all within that year, your employer may offer you one of two lifelines: They can give you an additional 2.5 months to spend the FSA cash or they can allow you to retain a maximum of $550 which you can rollover into the next plan year. Keep in mind that not all companies offer the two options, so you’ll have to check with your respective HR department.
Another condition to having an FSA account is that you can only spend that money on specified, FSA-approved products. Unfortunately, that means no teeth whiteners or high-tech Fitbits because “they are considered for general good health and not for the treatment of a specific medical condition.”
OK, so how do I utilize my FSA card on Amazon?
To use your FSA card on Amazon, simply go to amazon.com/fsa and the option to add the card to your account is right on the landing page. Most FSA cards can be entered as is, but some may need to be registered as credit cards. If that’s the case, make sure to double-check that you’re using it to buy eligible products when making your purchases.
Once you’re on that page, you also have access to the full list of all the FSA-approved products sold on the site. You can shop by category—from baby and childcare items, to cold and allergy necessities, as well as COVID essentials, among other things. Eligible products will also have an “FSA or HSA eligible” descriptor on the bottom. You may even find certain products for a lower price on Amazon than other retailers.
