Over this past week, parents have started receiving Amazon’s “Ready, Set, Play” holiday toy book in the mail. It’s a well-curated, stunning catalog of the toys Amazon anticipates will be the most popular, as well as other standouts that have hit the toy scene in recent months.

My own daughter rushed to rip it off the countertop from the pile of mail to plum its depths, attempting to narrow down her own choices.
