When tourists arrive at the port in Kuşadası, Turkey, the first thing they see are homes in the Tepe neighborhood, perched high up on a hill. Now, more than 400 of those homes are getting a very colorful makeover, thanks to paint company AkzoNobel's "Let's Colour" program.

The homes in Tepe are being painted to look like a cascading rainbow on the hill, and the beautiful shades of pink, blue, yellow, orange, green, and purple are seriously a dream to look at.

Tepe was chosen for the project for its high visibility, according to a press release. Kuşadası Mayor Özer Kayalı says, "It makes for a striking panorama, which is why we believe this project will make a great contribution to our community." The visual appeal is good for more than just an Instagram post-the colorful upgrade has helped improve the lives of the 2,000 residents that live in Tepe.

The ongoing project, carried out in partnership with the local Tepe community, the Venuart Group, and the Kuşadası municipality, is using more than 50,000 liters of Marshall paint to brighten the town (and the lives of its residents).

Marshall's marketing manager, Pınar Adabağ, says, "It's great to see how we can make living spaces more social, pleasurable and habitable while also inspiring and motivating people through the use of color."

Residents of the town spoke in a video for Let's Colour, explaining the impact the colorful change has had on their lives. Before the project began, the area was a "dirty and scary place", one woman says. Some families wanted to leave the town, but found they were happy once the streets became colorful and bright. Other members of the community have been inspired to open their own businesses, since more visitors will likely be heading to the "Colorful Hill."

A child in the video describes the change to his town in the sweetest way: "Just like a rain fell down and I'm running on a rainbow."

The work on the rest of the homes in Tepe is scheduled to be finished by April 2019. Check out the gorgeous town for yourself here.
