Amazing New Road Bikes for 2016

Ridley X Trail

There was a hole in Ridley’s line between its cross-specific X-Night and endurance road-focused Fenix, but that changes for 2016 with its new X-Trail. This versatile new road bike can tackle dirt, gravel, and paved roads, as well as the occasional cyclocross race. Its geometry features a bottom bracket height that’s a little bit lower than the X-Night's, and a head angle that’s more relaxed for stabler handling. Its headtube is taller, too. Disc brakes offer all-weather stopping power and fender mounts add versatility. The stiff carbon frame is made even more rigid with beefy thru-axles front and rear. Shaped seatstays and a small 27.2mm seatpost give some cush to the ride. The X-Trail comes with 38c tires but can fit up to 40c. There will be two aluminum models and four carbon versions ranging in price from $1,650 to $5,400. The Ultegra-equipped version shown costs $4,000. —Ron Koch
