Amandla Stenberg Wears Rainbow Knotted Box Braids Hairstyle

Amandla Stenberg is on a beauty hot streak — but then again, when isn't she bringing her A-game it when it comes to fierce hair and makeup looks? Just last month, she walked the BET Awards red carpet in unicorn-inspired box braids in dreamy shades of pink, white, and lavender, which she coordinated to her eyeshadow for a cool, matchy-matchy effect. Her latest look, however, is one of the most stunning takes on the rainbow hair trend that we’ve seen, possibly ever.

On July 15, Amandla attended a lunch event with the Hollywood Reporter, wearing her hair in box braids that were wrapped into intricate rainbow knots. Her longtime hairstylist Vernon Francois Instagrammed the photo of the The Hate U Give* star's gorgeous hairstyle, and unsurprisingly, fans were all about the look. "This is absolutely amazing... The colors with the knots are epic," one person wrote. "Holy fire," added another.

Vernon also styles Lupita Nyong'o, Cleo Wade, and Tracee Ellis Ross, to name a few, and he knows exactly how valuable his styles are both artistically and culturally. In a past interview, he acknowledged the importance of celebrating natural texture. “I think it’s important to recognize my responsibility as an artist and to be able to demonstrate the versatility and the strength of those hair textures,” he said. “Yes, there could be ignorance. Yes, there could be racism. But I think it’s really important to take the stance that you’re in the most powerful position to teach someone something about yourself."
