Amanda Seyfried will not be singing ABBA songs on theater screens across America this summer, but in May of 2020, she will be just another meddling kid in the Scooby-Doo franchise's newest featurefilm, Scoob. Seyfried will play Daphne. Zac Efron will play her well-meaning but goofy boyfriend, Fred, Deadline confirms.

Tony Cervone, who has extensive experience working in the Hanna Barbara and Looney Toons franchises, will be directing the film for Warner Bros Animation Group. Other A-list names attached to the project include Will Forte, who will play Shaggy, Gina Rodriguez who is Velma, and Tracy Morgan, who will play Captain Caveman.

Frank Welker, who was the voice of the dog Scooby-Doo, will reprise his role again as the detective-pup.

Seyfried has been in plenty of high-grossing films with a big fan-base, so this won't be the first project she's attached to that already has a huge following. In a July 2018 cover story, Seyfried told ELLE that when it came time to shoot the 2018 Mamma Mia sequel, she had to negotiate her contract.

"It's funny, because the studio played hard to get," she told ELLE. "They were like, “We could recast.” Somebody actually said that. You would recast me? I don't matter? Really? Is this because I'm a woman?"

She also found out that Dominic Cooper, who plays her husband, Sky, was being offered the same salary for less work.

"I fucking hit the roof," she said."I was like, 'No, dude. You can't do this anymore.' Because I’m not going to keep my mouth shut about this. God bless him, Dom is wonderful. But how is that fair? [For another film I did a few years ago,] I got paid 10 per cent of what my co-star got. On a movie where that actor was a little bit more well known, but not really."
