Amanda Knox Has a New Hulu Series in the Works

It's been over a decade since Amanda Knox was released from prison. The Seattle native touched down on American soil in 2011, the day after an Italian court overturned her and Raffaele Sollecito's convictions for the 2007 murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher.
"I'm really overwhelmed right now. I was looking down from the airplane, and it seemed like everything wasn't real," Knox admitted following her return to the states.
However, her story didn't end with her emotional homecoming. In 2013, an Italian court overturned her acquittal, but in 2015, she was exonerated by Italy’s highest court.
Now, Knox is bringing her "story to life" on Hulu with a limited series based on her wrongful conviction and her "16-year odyssey to set herself free."

What has Amanda Knox been doing since being released from prison?
Knox admittedly "remained very private" during her first years as a free woman. In a 2019 essay for GEN (a former publication from Medium), she penned, "I had Facebook and Instagram accounts that no one but a small circle of my friends and family could follow. I knew what would happen if I made them public. Haters and trolls would harass me or call me a killer or psycho bitch when I posted a picture of my cat. The tabloids would lift my photos out of context and call me strange, as if I were so weird that I deserved four years in prison. And that’s exactly what happened when I made my Instagram public. I did so because I just wanted to have what every other person around me had, the freedom to shout into the wind and say, 'Here I am!'"
Knox ended up making her Instagram account public in 2017. Years before, in 2013, she released her New York Times bestselling memoir Waiting to Be Heard. Discussing the book with Robin Roberts, Knox said, "I wanted people to know who I was because I felt that I was lost in the middle of this storm and I was taken over. And I wanted people to know precisely what it is I went through and precisely what I was thinking at every moment."
The author participated in the 2016, Emmy-nominated Netflix documentary Amanda Knox, and hosted the VICE/Facebook Watch series, The Scarlet Letter Reports, which premiered in 2018. The series explored the "gendered nature of public shaming through interviews with women who have been objectified and villainized by the media."
Knox has also hosted The Truth About True Crime podcast and co-hosts the podcast Labyrinths with her husband Christopher Robinson, who co-runs Knox Robinson Productions with her.
The Knox Robinson Productions website notes that Knox has become "an advocate for criminal justice reform and media ethics." She sits on the board of the Frederick Douglass Project for Justice and serves as an ambassador for the Innocence Network. In early 2024, Knox testified in front of the Washington State Legislature in support of House bill 1062, which she tweeted "would limit the use of deception in police interrogations."
She continued, "Lying to suspects that there is evidence against them, or that their alibis have turned on them too often leads to false confessions."
Speaking to PEOPLE in 2017, Knox said, "I’m not disappearing into oblivion," adding, "I have something to say."
Is Amanda Knox involved in the Hulu Amanda Knox series?
Knox and her husband (Knox Robinson Productions) are serving as executive producers along with Warren Littlefield, Lisa Harrison, Ann Johnson & Graham Littlefield (The Littlefield Company) and Monica Lewinsky. Knox celebrated the news of the series in 2024, writing, "It's #InternationalWomensDay and I'm excited to be partnering with some [kick-ss] women to bring my story to life with a limited series on Hulu!"

Has Amanda Knox returned to Italy?
In 2019, Knox returned to Italy for the first time since being released from prison to speak at the Criminal Justice Festival in Modena. "Many think I was mad to come back, that I wouldn’t be safe, that I would be falsely accused and sent back to jail," the activist said in Italian at the event (via ABC News). "I am afraid today ... scared of being molested, trapped ... but above all I am scared that I will lack courage. I know that I remain a controversial figure, especially in Italy."
Prior to her first trip back to Italy, Knox shared that she was "honored to accept" the Italy Innocence Project's "invitation to speak to the Italian people at" the "historic event."
Is Amanda Knox married?
Knox is a married woman! She wed her husband, Christopher Robinson, on Feb. 29, 2020. Knox celebrated their "first wedding anniversary" on the Leap Day in 2024, writing on her Instagram, "Chris and I have been married now for as long as I was imprisoned, and together for as long as I was on trial. He has balanced the scales of my life away from injustice and pain and towards love and hope. Choosing him as my person was the best decision I've ever made. Happy anniversary, boo!"
Does Amanda Knox have children?
Yes! But there was a time when Knox feared "motherhood had been stolen" from her. In a 2021 essay published on Oprah Daily, Knox recalled how she felt after being sentenced to prison for a murder that she didn’t commit.
"I started to plan for life that involved 26 years behind bars. From a young age, I’d always imagined myself as a mother," she penned. "Having children wasn’t even a question. Now I was facing the prospect of being released back into free society at age 46. It wasn’t just my freedom that had been stolen from me; motherhood had been stolen from me."
Her dreams of having a family have since become a reality. The New York Times reported in October of 2021 that Knox had a daughter named Eureka Muse Knox-Robinson, whom she had "been keeping a secret for months." Her second child, son Echo, was born in September of 2023.
