Amanda Kloots remembers husband Nick Cordero four years after his death with photo taken 'before our lives changed forever'

Amanda Kloots is remembering her late husband, Nick Cordero, four years after his death. On Sunday, the "Dancing with the Stars" alum took to Instagram share a touching tribute to her late husband, Canadian Broadway star Nick Cordero, who contracted COVID-19 on March 20, 2020 and died three months later.

"It's extremely hard for me this time of year to not think back to 2020. This pic was exactly four years ago, right before our lives began to change forever," Kloots wrote of the photo that included Cordero holding their then-infant son, Elvis.

Kloots urged her followers to cherish every moment with their loved ones, writing, "I guess I'm just reminding everyone to love the ones you're with. Really love them. Appreciate every second you have with them. Remember how quickly something can change. You think you have a lifetime… don't take it for granted.

"Don't be a fool. I was and learned the hardest lesson of all. Love love love to the fullest. Every single day," she added.

Her touching tribute was met with many supportive and compassionate messages from fans in the comments.

"I totally understand. Yesterday was the date I took my husband to the hospital for COVID and he never came home," one person shared. "I also encourage everyone I meet to love life and tell your family and friends how much you love them. So important to make good memories."

"You were not a fool! You loved him so hard and so loud! We were so lucky to have him when we did," another fan commented.

"What a blessing to have such an amazing photo. You have handled yourself publicly with the most amazing grace. You should be so proud of yourself and the life that you've given to your son and the memories that he holds of his dad," commented another.

On April 1, 2020, Kloots revealed that Cordero, 41, was unconscious in the intensive care unit (ICU) due to COVID-19.

"We drove to the emergency room and we dropped him off, and this is one of the saddest parts, we thought I would see him in two hours," Kloots told Gayle King in an interview with CBS This Morning. "We just weren't thinking ... I didn't even give him a kiss or a hug because we were also kind of self-isolating from him because we have this 10-month-old baby and I couldn't get sick, I'm still breastfeeding."

Cordero, who was born and raised in Hamilton, Ont., had his right leg amputated on April 18 and underwent a second surgery to receive a temporary pacemaker on April 24.

The actor experienced numerous setbacks including septic shock and lung issues during his 91 day hospitalization. Cordero was surrounded by his family as he taken off life support and died on July 5.

"God has another angel in heaven now. My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth," Kloots wrote. "I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone’s friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and husband. Elvis and I will miss him in everything we do, everyday."
