Amanda Holden's plunging Britain's Got Talent dress attracts the most Ofcom complaints of the year
Amanda Holden and her plunging neckline have become the most controversial thing on television in 2017 – according to Ofcom complaints, at least.
The Britain's Got Talent presenter horrified some viewers in June when she appeared as a judge on the family Saturday night show in a dress that showed most of her chest and all of her back.
The Julien Macdonald dress, which cost £11,250, proved instantly provocative during the semi-final with Ofcom receiving 216 complaints within 48 hours of it airing.
However, viewers have continued to flock to the regulator about the 46-year-old's outfit, with 663 complaints made about it over the past three months. That's more than the watchdog received after March's shambolic Comic Relief, during which Russell Brand swore and Vic Reeves flashed a fake penis before the 9pm watershed.

Holden, at least, has achieved her ambition. She told The Sun before the semi-final: “Will people be complaining to Ofcom? I hope so, I really do. I haven’t done my job if they aren’t.”
Holden is no stranger to sparking ire with her outfits. In 2016, those worn by Holden and co-host Alesha Dixon on Britain's Got Talent caused viewers to make 90 complaints.

A family show, kids watch. Tell Amanda Holden to dress better and not look like she's walking the streets later. #BritainsGotTalent

But this summer's dress, which saw Holden compared to a “stripper” by some viewers, proved far more provocative.
Despite receiving the most complaints of any show this year, Ofcom reviewed the episode and opted not to investigate further, stating that Ms Holden’s choice of attire “would not have exceeded most viewers' expectations”.
