Amanda Bynes arrives at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards.

Amanda Bynes isn't sugar-coating how depression has affected her life.

The actress, who turns 38 next month, candidly addressed her mental health and how it's affected her physically in a statement shared on Instagram. All the while, fans have been outspoken about her notable absence from the new docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TVwhich explores the treatment of former child stars who appeared in Nickelodeon shows in the '90s and early '00s.

"I've gained over 20lbs in the past few months from being depressed," the former Nickelodeon star shared in a March 28 Instagram Story. "I'm doing a lot better now and have learned to do opposite action when I don't feel like working out or eating clean."

"I weigh 162lbs right now," the She's the Man alum continued, "and want to get back to 110lbs."

Her recent post comes a week after she shared a rare picture of herself with friends on the photo-sharing platform. On Friday, March 22, Bynes offered insight into how she has been spending her time lately (her podcast aside), while fans commented underneath the post with many sharing their support, while others pressed her for an answer on why she declined to be in the ID series.

In the snap, the What a Girl Wants actress sat at a restaurant table across from her pal, Liam Poulsen. She rocked a black outfit with white tennis shoes and a white beanie. Although her first post was on October 2023, Bynes has only posted a handful of times in 2024.

Months earlier, in Dec. 2023, the comedian shared another vulnerable look at her life, this time on TikTok. In the video, Bynes addressed her "new look" and confirmed she had plastic surgery, noting it was one of the best decisions she's ever made.

"I actually had blepharoplasty surgery on the skin folds in the corners of my eyes," she revealed at the time. "I don't have those skin folds anymore," she said while calling the procedure "one of the best things I could have ever done for my self-confidence."
