Amal Clooney just gave us our ultimate summer 2023 wedding guest glam inspo while attending an event in Sicily with her husband George, and it's not even for a wedding.
When you first think of wedding guest hair and makeup, you probably picture something simple. There are certain rules, spoken and unspoken, about how a wedding guest should present themselves on someone else's big day, and it's usually not too extra. But wedding etiquette is evolving and we're seeing more and more joy and playfulness creep into both wedding guest dressing... and the glam.
Wedding or no wedding, Amal's "Studio 54 glam", dubbed as such by the look's creator Dimitris Giannetos, is everything we're going for this summer for wedding season and beyond.
Delivering both hair and makeup (Okkkkk Dimitris, we see you), the stylist nailed that perfect balance, to lean into Amal's mega sequinned gown without being OTT. An almost mauve nude lip was warmed up with a peachy Sicilian blush, and met with a gently iridescent inner eye that is giving lilac-y mermaid-y dreams and delivers that playful touch. It makes sense the makeup was a focal point, given the couple were in Sicily to celebrate Charlotte Tilbury's 50th birthday.
Amal's go-to bouncy blowout was swapped out for a voluminous yet polished take on a mermaid wave, with perfectly-formed S-shaped curls showing her hair is possibly the lightest we've ever seen it. With summery golden hues running through the mid-lengths and ends, we almost want to call some slithers in her sun-kissed tresses blonde....
It's Renaissance, it's Mermaidcore, we're even getting a hint of Barbie. Claps all round.
