Amal Clooney Breaks Her Own Number-One Beauty Rule at the 2018 Met Gala

Considering the theme of the Met Gala 2018—“Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”, in case you needed a reminder—the accompanying beauty looks were bound to ricochet between opulent and chaste. But who knew the event would play host to the reversal (or in this case, elevation) of one powerhouse’s well loved above-neck signature? Amal Clooney was among the first to grace the evening’s red carpet—but rather than shaking out her trademark high-volume blowout, the human rights lawyer opted to tie her tumble of brunette back, making for a swingy ponytail worthy of the first Monday in May.

Instead of being slicked back, her pony’s polish came from a barrel-rolled texture, high crown, and two face-framing sections freed from a deep side part at the front. A poppy red lip and ultramodern diamond earrings aided in making the moment a divine one. Because sometimes a new do is simply heaven-sent.
