Amal Clooney may be right at home in the court room, but ever since she married actor George Clooney in Italy in 2014, she has also found her footing on the red carpet. Amal made her debut at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards, where her husband received a lifetime achievement award (remember the elbow-length gloves she made herself?), but Mrs. Clooney has since made strides on the red carpet in a wide range of silhouettes, colors, and textures.

Amal’s next major moment came a few months later at the Met Gala, where she donned a custom Maison Margiela Artisanal strapless dress designed by John Galliano. On later occasions, she also went for Hollywood opulence, sporting gilded frocks by Margiela, Versace, and Vionnet. That said, Amal has recently changed up her silhouettes and evolved her look—most notably in neo-Grecian designs from Versace, which she started wearing at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. She also proved how elegant dressing the bump can be, raising the bar in custom Versace at this year’s César Film Awards where George received yet another lifetime achievement award.

Above, a look back at some of Amal’s most memorable red carpet ensembles.

Clooney’s horsehair wig in her home office. “You get it when you’re a really junior lawyer making no money,” she says. “You walk out having spent $1,000 on something that’s going to make you look really bad—especially if you’re a brunette.”
“She’s the professional, and I’m the amateur,” says George, who’s done his own humanitarian work. “I get to see someone at the absolute top of their game doing their job better than anybody I’ve ever seen.”
Clooney delivered a plea on behalf of Murad to the U.N. in September 2016. “I am ashamed that states are failing to prevent or even punish genocide because they find that their own interests get in the way.” On Clooney: Fendi sweater. Beladora earrings.
Abutting the house is a garden room full of citrus trees. “I designed this based on a Moroccan riad—those internal courtyards,” Clooney says. Oscar de la Renta sweater. Frame pants. Lorraine Schwartz earrings.
