Amal Clooney Beats April Showers in Straight-From-the-Runway Michael Kors Fall 2018
Amal Clooney is a busy woman: last week, she announced her latest case, defending the rights of two imprisoned Reuters journalists in Myanmar, and earlier today in New York City, she suited up to head to her old stomping grounds at Columbia Law School (Clooney was a visiting professor and senior fellow there in spring 2015). The human rights attorney's New York wardrobe this season has focused on a strongly tailored aesthetic of coats and suiting, and today’s look ushered in a colorful new variation of that theme. To combat the April showers, Clooney wrapped up in Michael Kors’s emerald green leather trench, plucked from the all-American designer’s Fall 2018 runway. This latest piece comes on the Jimmy Choo-clad heels of another leather trench, by Alexander Wang, which is also owned by Cardi B.
The coat's rich, unexpected hue lent a sophisticated twist to her black and white underpinnings. A simple knit top and Emilia Wickstead button-front skirt made for a crisp, graphic combination, while strong black accessories—patent slingbacks and a structured Dior handbag—let the world know who's boss.
