Alta's First Chair: Kids Camp Overnight To Claim Coveted Spot

The kids are all right.

This past weekend, Alta Ski Area, Utah, opened for the season, with excited skiers queueing in advance to catch those first turns. Leading the charge were a couple of stoked groms who beat everyone else to the punch.

These two young skiers weren't alone. Alta shared another post showing that their crew consisted of four groms who camped in line overnight to score first chair.

Alta originally planned to open on November 17th this winter but delayed opening day after a spate of warm temperatures and low snowfall. However, as is often the case in Utah, the resort's fortunes quickly changed.

This past week, Alta enjoyed a storm cycle before November 25th, setting the stage for a powdery first offering of the season. In short, Alta was firing over the weekend.

There's a reason people flock to Alta in droves. Even during a season that's been decidedly mixed throughout North America thus far, the resort has powder turns on tap.

Here's to our friends in Utah enjoying the sudden onset of wintry conditions. And, of course, to Mother Nature sharing the love a little bit.
