Allie's Sweet Tooth marketplace draws more than 1,000 shoppers
May 12—SHARON — More than 1,000 people went through Allie's Sweet Tooth in downtown Sharon for their Mother's Day celebration Saturday.
The marketplace was only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., but after checking her register tapes, owner Allie Zajaros-Adams found that more than 1,000 people bought her confections in the downtown store in the former Army-Navy building at 47 E. State St.
Zajaros-Adams sold strawberry walking pretzel salads, cake pops, macarons, jumbo cookies, decorated cookies, cupcakes and cinnamon rolls, which filled the air with their aroma.
"We started doing walking strawberry pretzel salads at the summer markets and people fell in love with it," Zajaros-Adams said. "We just keep on making it, and people line up for it."
Zajaros-Adams said her jumbo cinnamon rolls are usually the showstopper. In fact, she sold out of them in about an hour and a half.
After having full counters of sweets lined up at opening time, Zajaros-Adams was already replenishing her stock at 10:30 a.m.
Zajaros-Adams also welcomed 12 local vendors into the space for the marketplace. They all had handmade items.
"The city started doing these markets and they didn't know if they were going to continue them or not when I took over the space and I said, 'Why not?'" Zajaros-Adams said. "We open the doors to any local vendor and the surrounding communities.
Allie's Sweet Tooth is set to open sometime in May.
