Alicia Vikander will join Cate Blanchett in a new comedy film from writers and directors Guy Maddin, Evan Johnson and Galen Johnson.

The film, titled Rumours, follows the leaders of seven wealthy democracies who get lost in the woods while drafting a statement on a global crisis, facing danger as they attempt to find their way out.

Bleecker Street has set the film for a release in US theaters this year, with Andrew Karpen and Kent Sanderson serving as executive producers.

Square Peg, the production company of Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen, is teaming up with Bleecker Street on the production, with Knudsen serving as producer.

Rumour recently wrapped production in Hungary and also stars Roy Dupuis, Charles Dance, Denis Ménochet, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Rolando Ravello, Takehiro Hira and Zlatko Burić.

Further details, including the release date, are yet to be revealed.

Deadline first reported the news.
