Alfonso Ribeiro Celebrates Daughter's 4th Birthday Amid 'Difficult Week'

Alfonso Ribeiro honored his young daughter, Ava Sue, on her 4th birthday with a sweet Instagram post just days after she had emergency surgery.
"Happy Birthday to my sweet Ava Sue," the 51-year-old actor began in his Instagram grid post shared on Monday, May 15, that featured a trio of new family photos that put a spirited, on-the-mend Ava front and center.
Ribeiro's caption continued with a special shoutout for his little girl's bravery, hinting at the "scary" scooter accident she was involved in on May 12 that required she undergo emergency surgery. "As some of you know Ava had a very difficult week. I’m so proud of how well she handled everything. She’s so brave strong and creative. I love everything about my little girl."
He also shared an endearing message towards his wife of nearly 11 years and Ava's mom, Angela, "On a side note I’m forever grateful to @mrsangelaribeiro1 for being so amazing during this time," he gushed before continuing to praise her nursing skills, "Long nights with a little girl in pain and having to apply medication every few hours."
"My two hero’s [sic]," the father of three concluded.
Earlier this past weekend, Ribeiro shared another Instagram post, alerting fans that his daughter fell off her scooter the day before her birthday and that the family sought emergency medical treatment. Though he didn't get into detail about the procedure, it seemed to have gone well, as the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum described an optimistic outcome.
"Not the kind of day you want the day before turning 4," he wrote. "Just want to give a heartfelt thank you to @kareskinmd for the emergency service and procedure to help lessen the likelihood of scaring. So proud of how brave my baby girl was during the surgery."
Ava is the youngest of Ribeiro's three children and the second child he welcomed with wife Angela, previously announcing the birth of son Anders Reyn in 2015. Ribeiro also shares an adult daughter named Sienna, now 20, with his ex-wife and former actress Robin Stapler.
