Parenthood isn’t easy, but who knew it was also dangerous?

Dancing with the Stars host Alfonso Ribeiro shared a recent run-in he had with a baseball to the back of his head while attending his son’s game while guesting on Live with Kelly and Mark to promote the new season of the dance competition.

“I got concussed last week,” he said. “I was standing off to the side and I’m putting someone’s number in the phone and boom, a ball to the back of my head. Right in the back.”

Ribeiro says he was struck so hard that he went down, following which he immediately became disoriented.

“For like, three days I’m like, ‘Huh? Wha?’” he continued. Then making light of it said, “My wife seems to think it was just me saying I didn’t want to do nothing at the house. It wasn’t that. It was a good hit.”

Alfonso is married to Angela Ribeiro with whom he has daughter Ava Sue, 4, and sons Anders Reyn, 8, and Alfonso "AJ" Lincoln, 9. He also has a daughter Sienna, 20, from a previous relationship.

The America’s Funniest Home Videos host also shared with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos that his family seems to be accident prone. His mishap came shortly after Ava took a bad fall from her scooter, requiring emergency surgery on her arms and face.

“I think it’s in our family that we just get hurt a lot,” Ribeiro added. “[Ava is] doing much better. She’s—I wouldn’t say fully healed—there’s still scarring, a little bit that’s going away. Luckily, her face scar is the least of all of it; Some scars [are] still on the arms. She's no longer in pain, so she's doing great. She is literally a complete daredevil has no fear. The minute it happened she's like, 'I want back on the scooter.'"

Dad, of course, said no to that. "You and the scooter are done!"

Alfonso is recovered enough to resume his hosting chores. Dancing with the Stars will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. America’s Funniest Home Videos will return on Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
