“Y’all I’ve been wanting a doggo so bad,” the freshman congresswoman from New York wrote in her Instagram story on Sunday. “[W]e’re allowed to have them in our congressional offices, and so many members/staffers bring them.”

She explained that the hardest part about adopting a dog right now would be her travel schedule commuting between Washington D.C. and New York City, because the dog would either have to travel with her every weekend or stay with a friend. But either way, she wrote that she thinks a dog would offer some much needed emotional support while she fights for her progressive agenda in D.C.

“I think a doggo would provide lot of emotional benefits because work is very stressful sometimes (let’s be real, most times) and I think the comfort a doggo provides would help even things out because they are so loving!” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in an Instagram story.

She and Rep. Rashida Tlaib played with a French bulldog before their House votes one day and just “sat on the carpet to hide from the insanity for a few minutes with this dude,” Ocasio-Cortez added. “Made my morning.”

After seeing her post, some of Ocasio-Cortez’s fans started hunting for a dog for the congresswoman to adopt.

Ocasio-Cortez tweeted about wanting an office pup a few days before her Instagram Story after meeting a 3-month-old pit bull mix in a D.C. office building.

And in February, a video of AOC being smothered in kisses by an excited bulldog quickly went viral.
