Alert: New Orleans Is Hosting the National Fried Chicken Festival This Weekend
While Chick-fil-A and Popeyes continue to duke it out on the internet, a battle for homegrown fried chicken glory will be playing out in New Orleans.
That’s right y’all. Get out your stretchy pants and rustle up some Wet-Naps, because The National Fried Chicken Festival is making its triumphant return to the Big Easy this weekend. This year, more than 30 chefs and restaurants from across the South will be serving up their unique version of the classic dish for your sampling pleasure. And, come Sunday, only two vendors will be crowned titleholders for “Best Fried Chicken” and “Best Use of Fried Chicken” by a panel of food writers, bloggers, and critics.

Each day will feature music, dancing, and plenty of activities for all ages and audiences. For those 21 and up, there will be a beer tasting garden presented by Miller Coors as well as a Bottomless Bubbles VIP Lounge presented by Chandon.
The free three-day extravaganza takes place at Woldenberg Riverfront Park from Friday, September 20 through Sunday, September 22. Organizers expect upwards of 200,000 guests, so be prepared to get cozy.
