Watch: The Trick That Won Alec Majerus Gold In X Games Real Street Best Trick Contest

It's insane how far skateboarding has come in the past decade or so. Beyond the impossible to ignore progression of skill and the advancement of tricks; beyond the mega contest earnings and rise of new skateparks across the globe.

Random street spots and schoolyards that were once considered heavy "busts" are now home to huge contests like X Games Real Street, where this past weekend the iconic Rincon Middle School four block in Escondido, California, became the stage for one of the raddest events I've admittedly seen in a while.

Like many of the skaters in the contest, Alec Majerus left a mark of his own on this famous spot with a kickflip nosegrind on the rail, securing his place on the podium and winning the Best Trick contest.

I was getting flooded with clips from the contest on Sunday and honestly, everything I saw blew my mind. Contest or not, it's not like the spot was modified or anything—it's still the gigantic, terrifying four block it's always been...but the times they are'a changin!

And they're changing fast.

Rincon is one of the most familiar spots in skateboarding and the fact that this contest was a real thing still blows my mind.

Congrats to all the skaters that stepped to this beast and claimed some NBDs, and to everyone involved in general.

What spot is next?
