Aldi's Latest Grilling Item Has Shoppers Running Back for Seconds

The smash burger sensation has been gracing us with the tastiest juicy burgers for years. In my opinion, there’s something about smashing a burger patty down into its own fat juices and topping it with onions and cheese that really gets the taste buds tingling. And in a world with an abundance of burger competitors, finding the best one is no easy task. Not to mention, the difficulty in finding a quality smash burger option in the frozen food section at your local grocery store.

If the latter has been a challenge for you, there may be an answer to your struggles. Recently, a subscriber to the r/Aldi subreddit posted about an exciting find in the Aldi frozen food aisle: Holten’s Chop House Smashed Burgers. These 100 percent beef burger patties come in a package containing 8 patties total, each weighing 4-ounces. The packaging claims that no thawing is necessary and the patties still cook in minutes. Judging by the reaction in the comments section, these frozen smash burgers might just be worth a try.

“Ahhhh jealous! I found these once a couple months ago and they've been out of stock ever since. They are deeee-licious,” exclaimed one happy customer. “They are excellent...best frozen burger I've had,” another echoed the same sentiment.

Not everyone is on board with the frozen version of their beloved burger patties, however, with one user pointing out how “they did look good on the box," but they've "never had a good experience with burgers in boxes.” Another user chimed in to say that “the only good boxed burgers are the BJ’s Wellsley Farms steak burgers, but they're pricey. The Aldi bag of the All Natural brand does the job for me.”

At $7.99 a pop, finding a better priced frozen box of burgers isn’t really what is important. If in fact these smash burgers are as good as the reviews claim, that’s less than $10 for four delicious double smash burgers. Even after adding in the cost of cheese, onions and buns, you’re still coming out on top thanks to Aldi. And if you ask me, that's a deal you just can't beat.

If you’re looking for a good deal and also are interested in skipping a step in the burger creation process, grab a box — and your griddle — and get to smashing.
