They may have fewer bells and whistles, but they get the job done.

Home cooks today have more choices in nonstick skillets than they had years ago. For decades, Teflon’s original process was the only choice for pots and pans marketed as nonstick. However, many skilled cooks have always understood that even a stainless steel pan can be nonstick if heated properly.

Now, there are other commercially created nonstick frying pan surfaces, such as hard anodized, carbon steel, and ceramic. Allrecipes writer Ali Faccenda’s favorite go-to nonstick pan is a pink Paris Hilton ceramic skillet, regularly priced at $30. She raves that “every meal glides out of the skillet like butter.”

Ceramic nonstick pans can be $30, $120, like this Crate & Barrel version, or $180, like this Stanely Tucci version from Williams-Sonoma. Some of the more expensive ones have a few extra bells and whistles, such as the ability to go into the oven at higher temperatures or more color options, but the one thing they all do well is fry an egg that should slide right out of the pan.

Now Aldi has a set of two ceramic frying pans that are an absolute steal.

Aldi’s Crofton Ceramic Nonstick Fry Pan Set

Aldi's set of two Crofton ceramic nonstick frying pans, one 8-inch and one 10-inch, is just $14.99. They have a nonstick ceramic coating and soft-grip handles and are oven-safe up to 325 degrees F. The sets come in light gray-green or robin's egg blue.

In addition to the fry pan set, Aldi sells a sauté pan with a lid—with the same nonstick coating and colors—for $14.99.

Either choice would be great for scrambled eggs, delicate fish such as scallops, sautéed mushrooms, and much more. You’ll find many uses for your new nonstick cookware.

As with most Aldi finds in the home goods aisle, items go on the shelves on a Wednesday and are limited-time offers. Aldi’s ceramic nonstick pans go on sale April 10 and will be available while supplies last—which often isn’t longer than a week. If you’re looking for an affordable nonstick to add to your cookware collection or to replace an older nonstick that may be chipped or scratched, head to Aldi ASAP (on or after April 10).
