Aldi Just Brought Back a Highly Anticipated Thanksgiving Staple, and Fans Are Stocking Their Carts

ALDI

If you’re familiar with Aldi grocery stores and their weekly list of Aldi Finds, then you’re well aware of the German-owned grocer’s habit of releasing seasonal products that never see the light of day until their respective times of year. And with Thanksgiving right around the corner, Aldi just brought back a major fan-favorite that has customers purchasing up to six at a time before they’re gone once again.

Posted to Reddit by a loyal Aldi customer to alert the masses of its triumphant return, Aldi’s Sweet Potato Casserole with Praline Topping by Season’s Choice is one Thanksgiving Day dish you’re not going to want to sleep on.

This pre-made frozen casserole features a praline topping — which includes both oats and pecans — and is usually released just before Thanksgiving Day. Once sold out though, the popular casserole will not be restocked until next year, which is why customers have been stocking up ahead of its inevitable fate of disappearing quickly

As for the price of this fan-favorite seasonal meal, last year the casserole was listed at $4.99, but with inflation, we could easily see it inch a little closer to $6 depending on where you live. Despite the bump in price, however, this is still an incredible amount for what's consider to be a Thanksgiving staple.

“We just bought two boxes in Central Illinois for $3.79 each,” stated one customer in response to the Reddit post about the delectable casserole. “Folks were buying entire boxes and carts full,” they continued. Another customer mentioned that their Saint Louis Aldi location had the casserole available for “$4.99 each,” which definitely lends to the idea that each city will have its own price listed on the highly sought after frozen meal.

As for ingredients, the casserole includes sweet potatoes, milk, soy, wheat and pecans, so those with nut allergies will want to steer clear. In addition, the entire package serves five people in total and contains 350 calories per serving. It's recommended to cook the casserole by baking it, in which you would do so in an oven preheated to 350°F for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. It can, however, be microwaved in a much shorter amount of time (13 minutes on high), though the results may not be near as good as baking it in the oven.
