Aldi Has Issued a Frozen Peas Recall in 7 States

If you grocery shop at Aldi supermarkets, check your recent purchases. The grocery store has recently issued a frozen peas recall in seven U.S. states.
According to a statement from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration released today, Lakeside Foods, Inc. is voluntarily recalling almost 2,000 packages of Season's Best Frozen Sweet Peas due to possible exposure to the listeria bacteria—particularly dangerous for children, older adults, those with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women. Aldi confirmed the recall in a statement, saying that the frozen peas recall was "out of an abundance of caution."
The packages being recalled are at Aldi supermarkets in Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia, have the UPC code 041498164294, and a "best by" date of August 2018. The recalled frozen peas also have one of the following package codes: DC17038 PLAB6176, DC27038 PLAB6176, DC27038 BNAF7286, DC37038 BNAF7286, DC47038 PLAC6216, or DC57038 PLAC6216.
Although all suspected packages have been removed from store shelves, be sure to double-check your purchases. Should you have one, the FDA recommends that you either throw it away or return it to the store for a full refund. But if you haven't shopped at an Aldi in one of those states and have a bag of frozen peas, don't sweat it: Your frozen peas should be fine.
