The Most Expensive Homes in Every State, From Alabama to Wyoming

Low inventory, persistent inflation, and high mortgage rates continue to weigh heavily on the luxury real estate market in 2023, and in the past year, sales of multimillion-dollar properties have seen a dip.

There is some optimism, though, as the demand for trophy homes remains strong, if not as brisk as it has been in the last few years. The country’s most expensive listing, a penthouse in Manhattan, may have received a massive 22 percent price reduction, but San Francisco recently had its priciest deal of the year go down when buyers snapped up a $34.5 million estate in Presidio Heights. Palm Beach has seen its fair share of headline-making transactions this year, with sales setting a new $170 million benchmark, and in Malibu, Jay-Z and Beyoncé dropped a record-shattering $200 million on an architectural estate by architect Tadao Ando.

Robb Report scoured all 50 states (plus Washington, D.C.) to compile our list of the most expensive homes on the open market. We took stock of which homes continue to reign supreme, along with some surprising new additions. A Neverland-inspired manse in Alaska? Or how about a $75 million compound on Washington’s San Juan Island? Here’s a look at the country’s priciest residences from coast to coast.

Three Forks Ranch technically isn’t the most expensive listing in Oklahoma. Located roughly 50 minutes from Tulsa, the estate covers some 2,170 acres of beautiful land and sits right by the Grand River. Overlooking a picturesque pond, the historic prairie-style home offers three bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a range of modern amenities. There is plenty of space for guests or staff, too. The apartment in the barn is outfitted with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, while the manager’s home has three beds and two baths. But really, you’re paying $8.7 million for a piece of Oklahoma’s beautiful landscape.

Built by Chicago’s famous Drake family in 1900, this meticulously restored estate has eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, and five powder rooms. Features of note include the circular kitchen with a striking blue La Cornue range, a room exclusively for storing china, a custom elevator, formal living and dining rooms, a wood-paneled library, a pool, a greenhouse, and vast gardens. Wyoming — Grand View River Ranch, $58 Million

The Grand View River Ranch in Jackson traded hands countless times since it was homesteaded in 1910; in fact, one past owner acquired the property via a card game in 1944. Despite its many owners and high-profile visitors over the last century, it has remained a working dude ranch. The current owners operated Grand View River Ranch as a guest lodge, and now the future of the ranch lies in the hands of its next owner, whether they want to keep it guest-ready or transform it into a private home. Wyoming has no shortage of incredible ranch properties, but few have the proximity to and views of the Tetons like this. Spread over 118 acres, the ranch has more than 24 buildings that include numerous lodges, homes, guest cabins, and barns for owners, guests, and ranch staff. There’s access to Grand Teton National Park directly from the property, as well as convenient access to Jackson Hole’s incredible skiing. The property is also home to a riding arena, horseback trails, and private fishing on the Gros Ventre River.
