Alabama Animal Control Rescues Dog Trapped Behind Drywall in New Home

Mark Gullion heard barking from the home he was building in Guntersville, Alabama when he was doing a walk-through with the home's new owner. Usually when you hear barking it's coming from outside somewhere, but in this case, the barking was coming from inside the house!

Guillion posted this hilarious incident on Facebook.

The post reads, in part, "I’m building a house for someone on Spring Creek Drive in Guntersville. I was doing a walk through, this afternoon, with the homeowner and we could hear a dog barking but couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. After a lot of searching we decided it was coming from inside the walls. We went upstairs and found where he had gone up the stairs and out into the attic area and fell through to above the air return on the first floor. Thanks to Guntersville Animal Control for coming to the rescue. The owners were located and he’s back at home. He has been missing since Friday."

People are commending Gullion and animal control for saving the poor pip and one person commented, "You are gonna need to write a book. So glad you found the little guy." Another added, "Oh my goodness!! Look at that precious face. Thankful he was found!" Someone else made a very valid point and said, "Thank goodness that walk-thru was scheduled and you were able to rescue him! How very bizarre!"

The Drywall Dog's Name Is Haggard

They believe that Haggard had somehow entered the home and walked up to the attic where he fell through an air return and ended up in the drywall. Haggard's owners Tee and Kay Rice, say that they were on a trip when Haggard escaped their home during heavy storms.

Waff.com reports, "I’ve never seen anything like it, the dogs lower jaw dropped and started tremoring in happiness, I’ve never seen anything like it. Everybody was really excited,” Kaminski said. LOL, I bet that poor dog was excited to be out of the wall.

Haggard has been checked over by a vet and other than being a bit dehydrated, was uninjured. He is resting comfortably again with his owners.
