Al Roker was happy to spend his Saturday enjoying the mild weather, even going for a stroll around Central Park one last time before undergoing scheduled surgery.

Over the weekend, the 68-year-old NBC weather forecaster announced he would be taking a little break while he recovers from knee replacement surgery.

In a video Roker shared via Instagram on May 6, the Today show host told fans that Monday would be his last show before having surgery, a procedure he described as "a replacement of a replacement."

"I'm a little less than three days away from getting this left knee replaced," he stated in the clip, explaining his upcoming surgery is "a replacement of a replacement," and because of that, he expects to be "limping through" his recovery–a process he also described as "very difficult."

"This is probably my last walk of any significance before the knee, but it was such a gorgeous day, I had to get out and enjoy it," Roker continued. "Anyway, I hope you're having a great weekend, see you Monday, and then I'm going to be off for a little while to take care of the knee."

"Anyway, take care and hang in there, baby," the beloved TV personality signed off. He later clarified in the caption that his surgery is still considered a total knee replacement, even though it's the second one he would be having.

The famed morning show host—who has appeared on the broadcast since 1996—underwent a left knee replacement in 2001 and 15 years later had his right knee replaced. But last September, he opened up about possibly needing the surgery again after a hospital visit and x-ray to drain knee fluid.

Unfortunately, Roker's knee pain is just one of the many health issues he's opened up about over the past several years. Other procedures the meteorologist has spoken about include a five-hour-long surgery to remove his prostate following a cancer diagnosis in 2020, gastric bypass, hip replacement, back and carpel tunnel surgeries, and most recently, life-saving medical intervention to address bleeding ulcers and blood clots.
