Al Roker

Today show star Al Roker headed out on his Sunday morning walk, documenting the trip on video for his fans, when he ran into a surprising person: his wife, Deborah Roberts.

In a clip shared to Roker's Instagram on Nov. 26, the meteorologist walks down a road dressed for cold weather with a sweatshirt and hat while he says to the camera, "It's a beautiful Sunday morning, a little on the brisk side."

He then pauses as he notices something, saying, "Oh my gosh, as I walk along my road, who do I see coming in the opposite direction?" Roker turns the camera to reveal Roberts walking towards him, recording something as well.

Roker notes, "She's on camera too!" before the two say "Hey!" a few times and make quick cameos in each other's video. They then swiftly continue on their separate walks.

The 69-year-old really didn't seem to be expecting his wife on the road, as he wrote in the Instagram caption, "You never know who you’ll run into while getting your steps. Hey, @starttoday_ family. Who did you come across on your #walkrun today?"

Fans found the encounter sweet and charming, with comments like, "That was cute ❤️❤️," "You two !! A+😍😍," and "You two are hilarious! ❤️."

"We love Al!!! Keep up that walking!!! Also love how you and Deborah walk opposite directions. Secrets to a happy union!! 😂❤️," said another.

Someone else quipped, "Silly question- why don't you walk together? Lol," as a different fan offered some advice, writing, "Please tell Debra to walk facing traffic like you are. With your back to traffic you have NO chance to see what a driver is doing💕💕."

Others shared how happy they were to see Roker doing so well, as the Today show star dealt with major health issues last holiday season.

Roker was hospitalized last November with blood clots and later had to have intensive surgery. In early 2023, he also had a knee replacement and is possibly still recovering from the procedure.
