There’s a particular kind of FOMO in the air: WFH FOMO, that last chance to hit the road and work from virtually anywhere until your corporate overlords yank you out of your mesh shorts and back into the workplace.

There’s an awesome, new, solution to this very 2021 problem, though: the Airstream Interstate 24X, a 24-foot, Class-B motorhome built on a Mercedes-Benz chassis. It rolls out in the next few weeks. While very big vans that you can live in are nothing new— even for Airstream, which is more well-known for its iconic, gleaming travel trailers—the Interstate 24X sets itself apart from a lot of others in the space in that it's built for outdoor adventures, has the refinement of a luxury condo, and also has smart features for working on the road, to get the most out of your hybrid working situation while it lasts.

On the outdoor front it’s legit. It has four-wheel drive, six chunky, all-terrain tires, and multiple lights on the side and rear of the car, as well as a huge LED light bar up front to help you set up the campsite when you arrive after sunset. You can store all of your gear in smart, adaptable storage systems, whether you’re more of a cyclist, angler, snowboarder, or all three. There are also exterior wash stations to rinse off any gunk before you store it.

The sleeping/living/storage area can seat six people, and you can choose to have one big bed or two smaller ones. It has an ample-sized bathroom and kitchen with a deep sink, two burners, and a microwave, and tons of USB ports, but most importantly for the working nomad, a versatile, modular table system that'll have you working in one of the swiveling pilot chairs, a couch in the back, or even outside, standing desk—style, so you can have the most enviable Zoom background.

At $213,850, the Interstate 24X is not inexpensive. Unless you plan on staying at Amans around the globe for the duration of this WFH era, it’s not a bargain, especially when compared to crashing with friends and relatives when on the road. But, if you’ve ever lived that RV or van life, you know how intoxicating the freedom of setting up shop anywhere, from the woods to the desert to the city to the burbs, can be, and this Airstream van is one way to do it with brawn and style.
