Viva Aerobus will soon begin new routes to Austin, Denver, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Orlando.

Visitors to Monterrey, Mexico will soon have more flight options from the United States.

Viva Aerobus, an airline based in Monterrey, Mexico, will launch new routes to Austin, Denver, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Orlando. The airline is adding the flights due to ‘growing demand’, and there will be a 23 percent increase in available seats for a total of 13 million seats to Monterrey in 2024, according to its announcement.

The new flight routes include:

  • Denver to Monterrey beginning on January 25, 2024, and will operate twice weekly.

  • Austin to Monterrey beginning on March 22, 2024 with four weekly flights.

  • Orlando to Monterrey beginning on May 9, 2024 with three weekly flights.

  • San Francisco’s Oakland Airport to Monterrey beginning on July 1, 2024 with two weekly flights.

  • Miami to Monterrey beginning on July 1, 2024 with three weekly flights.

Details for the added New York to Monterrey route were not immediately available.

Airfare for one-way trips on the new routes will start at $65. Once in Monterrey, travelers have a variety of destinations to visit in Viva’s route network, and the airline will soon begin domestic routes to Durango, Tapachula and La Paz.

“The U.S. routes are designed to serve the world’s largest international air travel market with affordable options, truly making it easier for people to visit family and friends, take vacations, or conduct business," Viva Aerobus’ CEO Juan Carlos Zuazua said in a statement.

In preparation for the additional influx of tourism from the new flights in 2024, the local government shares in the statement that they are improving infrastructure including a new highway to the airport.

Monterrey is the capital of Nuevo León in northern Mexico, and is known a business and manufacturing city. Mexico’s Tourism agency is projecting over 39.4 million tourists to Mexico this year, according to local news reports.
