This Air Force Vet Says He Reached 101 by Drinking Coors Light Every Day

Not only is grabbing a cold beer a refreshing treat after a long day, but for one centenarian, it could be the secret to a long life.

In a recent interview with Fox News, Bob Slavonic, the son of 101-year-old World War II Air Force Veteran Andrew E. Slavonic, told the publication that his father has been drinking Coors Light beer every day for the last 15 years.

Andrew, who Fox reported celebrated his 101st birthday on Dec. 1 in McMurray, Pennsylvania, had been drinking Coors beer as far back as 1996, eventually making the switch to Coors Light and sticking to drinking it precisely at 4 p.m. every day ever since.

“Around 4:00 p.m., he tells me that it is 4:00 p.m., and it is time for our beer; he gets his Coors Light from the garage beer fridge and enjoys a nice cold one,” Bob told Fox News. “The bluer the mountains are on the can, the better.” (Read: He likes them nice and cold.)

The habit is just one of the ways Andrew continues to stay active, getting up each morning at 8:30 to cook breakfast, later making his own lunch, and even continuing to cut up to 0.6 acres of grass and shovel snow in his driveway when his son moved in with him back in 2016 despite having macular degeneration, Bob told Fox.

The World War II veteran served as both a nose gunner and a top turret gunner in addition to training new pilots during his time in the Air Force.
