Aidy Bryant doesn’t only exude confidence on SNL: The comedian also walks with purpose on Hulu’s hit comedy series Shrill, where she plays an aspiring journalist named Annie who is determined to change her life, but not her body.

Inspired after Lindy West’s memoir, Shrill: Notes From a Loud Woman, the show has earned critical praise since it was first introduced in 2019. Now, viewers are ready to see what Annie, Ruthie, Fran, and the rest of the crew do next in season 3.

Can't wait? Here’s everything we know so far about Shrill season 3:

When will Shrill season 3 premiere on Hulu?

Season 3 of Shrill is premiering on Friday, May 7, with a total of eight episodes, according to Variety. In March 2020, Hulu announced the third installment on Twitter with a short and sweet clip. Nearly a year later, in January 2021, the streaming service shared that season 3 would be the final season for the show.

What will Shrill season 3 be about?

According to Aidy, the third season will showcase her character coming to terms with the reality that self-love is a continuous journey.

“Annie ends up in a place where hopefully a lot of people end up if they have a reckoning with their own self-hatred and those kinds of things, where it’s like, ‘Okay, I have a better handle on this when it started. Does it still rear its ugly head and punch me in the face sometimes? Absolutely, but now I know how to cope with it,'” she told Variety.

She continued: “Part of what this season is, is just realizing that there is no end for people who are looking to find their own self-confidence. It is a constant, everyday thing. There isn’t a final, ‘She wins’ or ‘she loses.'”

The actress also shared that Annie and Fran's friendship will be further explored in flashback scenes.

"[Like] the moment where they really leveled up and became real friends," she told the outlet. "I think there’s a nice origin story and then a finality to who they are — who they helped each other become together.”
