I would love to be a fly on the wall in the Saturday Night Live writer's room. They've given us Mr. Peanut roasting in hell and Harry Styles as a social media manager for Sara Lee. This past weekend, they gave us something we'll never be able to unsee: Aidy Bryant's "overnight salad."

Likely a play on the breakfast trend overnight oats, the overnight salad skit featured Aidy Bryant dressed as a 1960s housewife preparing food for her family while they're asleep. Of course, she's singing all of the ingredients to a catchy tune that will probably be stuck in my head for the rest of the week, so that's lovely.

Keep in mind, the point of overnight oats is that you mix a bunch of ingredients together like oats, fruit, honey, and milk, when it sits overnight they combine to make a creamy texture like oatmeal. The whole premise of the overnight salad is the same sort of thing, but not many ingredients hold as well sitting overnight as oatmeal does...which is entirely the whole point!!!

Anyway, the mortifying ingredient list started off with lettuce, cheese, lemon, "a gallon of mayo," "so many raisins," and an "insane amount of pepper." Believe it or not, as Aidy kept singing it only got more shocking. She then added 50 full hot dogs (yes, 50), more mayo, Fritos, root beer, cookies as croutons, and a pizza on top.

Then, she let it sit all night on the radiator. Nice! To add to the chaos of it all, Daniel Craig was the host of this episode so the bit ended with him coming downstairs with the two daughters to eat the overnight salad, yelling about how disgusting it is, and walking out the door. Can we really blame him? There was ROOT BEER...in a salad. SNL writers—y'all need help.
