Out of everyone involved in making a TV show, you’d expect the director to know what’s going to happen next. That’s not the case with Star WarsAhsoka, however.

Peter Ramsey, who directed episode 4 of Disney+’s latest Star Wars show, and who also won an Oscar for co-directing Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, is still in the dark about Ahsoka’s ultimate fate.

That’s thanks to Dave Filoni, the chief creative on Ahsoka. He’s got a plan for the story, and he’s determined to keep it locked down - even if that means not telling directors what’s about to happen.

Speaking in an interview with IGN, Ramsey said: “There’s gonna be surprises for me down the line.” After the bombshell ending of episode 4, that’s sure to delight fans, even if it might not be the most helpful restriction in terms of delivering an episode.

Ramsay doesn’t seem to mind in the slightest though. He continued: “I told Dave [Filoni], 'man, you gave me a foolproof episode.’ I so lucked out because I got the one where all these different strands of the story kind of converge and it blows up. You'd have to really mess up in order for it not to be compelling in the end.”

The episode, titled Fallen Jedi, sees Ahsoka sent to a mysterious location called the World Between Worlds. Here, she meets her former Jedi master Anakin Skywalker (played by a digitally de-aged Hayden Christensen).

With the next one, episode 5, being directed by Filoni himself, there are high hopes it’ll deliver. At the very least, this time the director will know what’s actually happening in the story.
