'AGT' Judge Simon Cowell Is Getting Called Out Over Last Night’s “Terrible” Results
The 2019 America's Got Talent judges are getting called out for putting through Gonzo the tambourine man and not Ansley Burns on last night's season 14 judge cuts show.
Ansley had a stellar audition despite Simon's complaint that her backing track was "too loud."
When it was announced that Ansley had been eliminated, AGT fans online were outraged.
Apparently, America's Got Talent viewers think judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Julianne Hough, Gabrielle Union, and guest star Ellie Kemper got it way wrong last night during round three of judge cuts.
During Tuesday night's show, 18 acts were whittled down to just seven. While it was expected that the judges would have to say goodbye to several incredible contestants, there was one elimination in particular that shocked many AGT fans: Ansley Burns.
The 12-year-old vocalist's second-round audition was abruptly stopped when Simon complained that the background music was too loud (he didn't like her backing track in the first round, either). Even still, Ansley crushed her rendition of Carrie Underwood's "Good Girl" a cappella and ended up receiving raving reviews ... even from Simon himself.
"One of the things I've always loved about you, Ansley, you just have the most amazing personality," Simon told the preteen singer. "I think this is a way, way better audition than the first time. I think you've got something special about you."
But when it came time to eliminate 11 acts, Ansley was one of them, which made viewers instantly upset. In their minds, the judges should've sent Gonzo the tambourine man home, instead.
@AGT Can’t believe u put Gonzo thru over Ansley... after u made that poor girl sing acapella TWICE!!! Also I would have liked to see the grandpa strength act more than a freaking tambourine! #JudgeCuts #AGT #Wrongchoice

"Can't believe u put Gonzo thru over Ansley... after u made that poor girl sing acapella TWICE!!" a fan complained. "I don't get Gonzo the Tambourine Guy getting in and the little girl with a voice the size of the Moon getting sent home. That's just nuts," another said. A different viewer called it a "terrible night" after the results were revealed.
Other fans took their anger out directly with the judges. Simon, given that he is an executive producer of the show, got it particularly hard.
"Can't believe Simon would ruin the show's credibility over a lame no-talent," an AGT viewer declared. "I cannot believe you didnt send ansley through after stopping her twice ... Wth!!!! Simon," another lamented.
@SimonCowell #JudgeCuts @itsgabrielleu @juliannehough @howiemandel #AGT @NBCAGT I can somewhat understand the hubby-wife singing danger act, but GONZO??? That’s INSANE‼️I can think of three other acts more deserving. So disappointing.

#AGT They vote to send the weird tambourine man thru to live show but turned away some really great talent. Beyond stupid! What were they thinking? Can't believe Simon would ruin the show's credibility over a lame no-talent.

Whether Simon and the rest of the judges made the right or wrong call is up for debate. But regardless, it's important to remember that just because Ansley got eliminated last night doesn't mean she'll necessarily be off the show forever. Remember, the judges can choose to send any eliminated act to the quarterfinals as a wildcard pick. Given Ansley's popularity, she may just be lucky enough to get a second shot.
But even if she doesn't, there are still a ton of other amazing acts from last night that AGT fans can look forward to seeing again when the live shows begin in August. Last night alone, besides Gonzo, Marcin Patrzalek, Greg Morton, Mackenzie, Carmen Carter, Nick and Lindsay, and Light Balance Kids (Ellie's golden buzzer pick) were put through.
Besides, with Ansley's amazing vocal talent, something tells us she'll be justttt fine on her own.
