From Good Housekeeping

  • America's Got Talent season 15 judge cuts episode took place Tuesday night on NBC.

  • Following the audition round, judges Heidi Klum, Sofía Vergara, Howie Mandel, and Simon Cowell picked their favorite contestants to advance to the season 15 live shows.

  • Here's how fans reacted to the judges' picks for the 2020 season.

America's Got Talent fans have some thoughts about judges Heidi Klum, Sofía Vergara, Simon Cowell, and Howie Mandel's decisions after Tuesday night's episode.

Unlike in years past when the judge cuts round of the NBC competition was spread out over multiple episodes, this year the panelists only had one episode to trim down the list of season 15 contestants (in other words, not an easy job). Now, only a handful remain for the live shows, which begin on August 4.

The big question is, did the judges put through the best contestants? The answer, of course, is ... it depends on who you ask. Fans of AGT standouts like Alan Silva, Archie Williams, Feng E, Noah Epps, Double Dragon, and Usama Siddiquee definitely think so. These acts are among the several who advanced to the next round along with golden buzzer winners Brandon Leake, Roberta Battaglia, Cristina Rae, Voices of Our City Choir, and W.A.F.F.L.E. Crew.

Sadly, many amazing acts had to say farewell to the competition after the judges decided to send them home. When the musical duo Broken Roots tweeted that they weren't going through, folks seemed devastated. "It is absolutely heartbreaking seeing an [sic] not only amazing but a meaningful act say goodbye to the AGT stage!," advancing salsa duo Simon and Maria tweeted in support.

Meanwhile, one fan wrote to Broken Roots, "You guys didn’t deserve the boot! Seriously #agt judges made a huge mistake!" Another viewer tagged Simon directly, called the decision to send Broken Roots packing "heartbreaking," and said they were "completely disappointed."

Similarly, folks weren't too pleased when comedian Ty Barnett was also eliminated. "#AGT got it wrong. Ty Barnett deserves to be in the live shows! Bring him back!" a fan tweeted. "Disappointed that Ty Barnett didn't get to move on. I hope he finds success in the future. #AGT," another fan declared.

Alas, viewers shouldn't be super discouraged just yet. After all, there are still so many great acts — singers, dancers, sword swallowers, comedians, and heart-stopping danger groups — to root for as season 15 continues. Chances are, you're bound to find a new favorite if yours was eliminated during judge cuts.
