AGR RTW Spring 2022

LVMH Prize 2021 semifinalist AGR, founded by knitwear designer Alicia Robinson, imagined a very colorful and vibrant post-lockdown summer with its spring 2022 collection “London on heat.”

Inspired by artist Mark Rothko’s color field paintings, Roy Colmer’s early spray-gun paintings and rave culture from the ’90s, Robinson offered a range of summer knitwear items, as well as denim, silk shirts and nylon tracksuits in iridescent colors.

“We use a lot of Lycra in our summer knits, especially women’s wear, to keep it very sexy. We also quite often add dyes on top to add that extra something,” Robinson said.

British photographer Martin Parr’s hyper-saturated photos served as a point of reference for the brand’s playful spring 2022 look book.

The designer also introduced a capsule in collaboration with the Netherlands-based knitwear manufacturer Knitwear Lab. It features a cardigan in which British artist Joel Holbrook’s mural on the wall of the AGR studio appears in a jacquard form.

Before launching her brand in 2019, Robinson worked as a freelance knitwear designer at places like James Long, Helen Lawrence, Yeezy, A-Cold-Wall and Missoni.

Robinson felt that the LVMH Prize nomination earlier this year has “helped the brand to elevate and earn more recognition from around the world,” and she is “extremely excited about growing our small team and becoming a global knitwear brand. “
