At AGI Denim, Circulose Fabric Creates Canvas for Lamborghini Artwork

AGI Denim’s circular fabric is featured in new artwork by Bulgarian artist Kiril Jeliazkov.

Titled “Beyond Sixty Energy,” the artwork aims to capture Lamborghini’s drive for creating innovative and colorful sports cars. Jeliazkov’s signature bold brushstrokes and vibrant color palette pay homage to the Lamborghini brand’s colorful legacy.

For the canvas, Jeliazkov used AGI Denim’s fabric made with Circulose, Swedish textile recycler Renewcell’s brand of dissolving pulp made from 100 percent textile waste. The vertical manufacturer indigo-dyed and finished the fabric with recycled water. A special technique was applied in its LEED Gold certified jeans factory. The B Corp also created the artwork label.

Made-to-order apparel brand Treun House Atelier sponsored the canvas, which can be viewed from Dec. 14-16 at the exhibition “60 Years of Artistry in Motion” in New York City. Presented at the Lamborghini Lounge, the exhibition features various works of art inspired by the Italian luxury automaker. It follows Lamborghini’s exhibition at Art Basel Miami Beach earlier this month.

The project is part of AGI’s “art-supporting arm” called gallery@. In July 2022, the mill unveiled the concept in New York City with a popup exhibition featuring artwork by artists Holly E. Brown, Juan Manuel Gomez and Mauricio Arroyave. Like Kiril’s piece, denim was also the canvas for their art.

Henry Wong, AGI Denim VP of marketing and product development and director of gallery@, said the partnership with Treun House Atelier was a fun and creative challenge.

It was also a new way for AGI to highlight its pioneering approach to using innovative technologies. In October, the jeanswear manufacturer bowed Tomorrowlab, a fabric collection that brings together low-impact fibers with eco-friendly treatments and finishes, including Circulose.

“Our parent organization, AGI Denim, is made up of so many eager, creative talents and we do not shy from any chance to show off our cutting-edge innovations. This was a great opportunity for us to take part in this project for Lamborghini, who has for six decades never stopped pushing the boundaries through artistry and technology. We hope we have done our part in inspiring creators of all disciplines,” Wong said.
