Adwoa Aboah Just Wore Simone Rocha Fresh Off the Fall Runway

Today, the words “modern princess style” unfailingly conjure images of Great Britain’s Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle in formal attire—not every fashion lover’s cup of tea. Yet twisting the monarchy’s historic dress codes is a thoroughly British pursuit (think: Vivienne Westwood), and Adwoa Aboah served a refreshing reminder of that fact last night. With multiple London Fashion Week parties to attend, the British model chose a stunning pink party dress from Simone Rocha’s Fall 2019 Louise Bourgeois–themed collection, which just hit the runway three days ago. Notably, she added Rocha’s sparkling pink bead tiara and drop earrings; the final result felt a little bit prom queen, a little Disney princess, in the best possible way.

Rocha is one of the most beloved British designers of the moment, known for her effortless mix of romance with edge—see the hint of studded lace along the bust of Adwoa’s frock, coupled with its graphic tie-dye print and voluminous proportions. Aboah and her stylist Alexandra Cronan always like to subvert expectations with her evening looks, and the addition of sparkly Manolo Blahnik heels, pink push-lock purse, and periwinkle lids added a touch of retro kitsch. As for the layers of crystals—those oversize hoops, that pastel tiara—well, those were simply fun. Gleefully girly and fresh off the runway, this Rocha may be Aboah and Cronan’s most original choice to date.
