Rick and Morty are ready to get Schwifty as the beloved series takes on a twist with an anime spinoff. The 10-episode sci-fi cartoon sitcom is currently in production and is set to air on Adult Swim and HBO Max.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the latest spinoff is directed by Takashi Sano, who previously directed Tower of God and has received the green light from Adult Swim. The decision comes after receiving positive feedback from "Rick and Morty vs. Genocider" and "Summer meets God (Rick meets Evil)", both of which Sano directed.

"The multiverse-straddling exploits of Rick and the gang pose challenges to the family bond, but they always rise to the occasion," Sano said in a statement. "It's such a life affirming sight, and Jerry is no exception. I am honored to have been given an opportunity to tell a new story about this amazing family."
