Adult film star Lisa Ann was detained by police on Sunday night after allegedly using her cell phone during a Matt Rife performance at Radio City Music Hall.

Ann posted a dramatic clip of the incident to her social media channels, assuring viewers it wasn’t a joke. “I did nothing wrong,” Ann says directly to camera. “I didn’t touch my phone. I wanted to see Matt Rife, because he’s a friend of mine, and I go to jail!”

She later reposted with the video, giving some more details of the wild situation. “Tonight I was arrested and harassed by the NYPD—they offered me a choice to be 51/50 by ambulance and admitted to the hospital, or arrested and put in jail over someone thinking I used my phone during the Matt Rife show,” Ann wrote, referring to the medical code under which an adult can be detained in a psychiatric hospital for up to 72 hours if experiencing a mental health crisis.

“I’m at [a] loss of words for what I just endured,” she continued. “Traumatic, unnecessary, and extreme are topping my list of emotions.”

Ann reported in follow-up posts that she spent “45 minutes in handcuffs” and was “sent to an ambulance” for medical evaluation before she was ultimately freed. She was not actually arrested, despite her claims, and was released without citation. “I never touched my phone,” she reiterated. “Handcuffs and ambulance were a bit extreme.”

However, a Radio City Music Hall source alleged to The New York Post that Ann was recording the show on her phone. When the venue requested she stop, Ann apparently refused and became irate. Ultimately, she “was not removed for the phone, she was removed because she was disruptive,” the source claimed.

“She was being very disorderly,” they continued. “She started getting loud, the police were there, and she started kicking them,” the insider added.

In one of her posts last night, Ann implied a possible confrontation with police leading to her detention. When [the NYPD] tells you your purse is not yours, you have no rights,” she wrote. “If you think different you get 51/50 in the hospital.”

Ann is best known for playing a version of Sarah Palin in many adult films. She’s also a frequent, and particularly game, guest on The Howard Stern Show; and hosts her own podcast, The Lisa Ann Experience.

Comedians have become increasingly strict about cell phone use during shows. Last November, Pete Davidson kicked a City Winery employee out of a show for taking a picture of him while onstage.

Rife is perhaps particularly sensitive about leaked footage after his own November incident in which his first Netflix special was accused of being misogynistic. He later issued a mock apology that doubled down on the controversy.
