This Adorable Video Shows a Normal Day Through a Mom's Eyes—and Her Toddler's

Stop what you're doing right now and watch this short video by Story of This Life vlogger Esther Anderson. Created in honor of Mother's Day, "A Normal Day" shows us how even when we think we're failing, or can't seem to get out of the trenches of parenthood, we're still creating memories of love and happiness for our kids.

First, we see the day through the mom's perspective. Every moment is stressful, with the kids crying, and pulling apart the grocery store. There are diaper changes, and failed naps, and whining.

As a soon-to-be mom of four, all of these moments are completely relatable. Especially when her older daughter drops a piece of cake on the floor and the mom sinks to the kitchen floor in defeat. Been there!

But then, we see the same day through the toddler's eyes, as she tells her father about what they did. Instead of stress, she experienced snuggles and laughter. She tells him how much she loves her baby sister, who we saw her fighting with over a toy earlier.

"And mommy gave us lots of kisses," she reports to her daddy, adding that from her point of view, the best part of the day was when she and her mom smeared frosting on one another after she dropped the cake.

The caption on the video says it all: "Your normal may be their magic."

I have to admit, I really needed this today. This morning, we had a mini-disaster involving failed air conditioning that left me in tears, shouting at my husband on the phone. The kids were late for school, and I drove home feeling like the worst mom in the world. But watching this video, I'm thinking about how in between the chaos, I hugged my middle daughter and thanked her for helping me. I still managed to get them dressed, fed, and out the door in one piece. I told all of them I loved them. So I guess I don't suck quite as much as I thought; or hopefully they don't think so!
