Adidas and End. Clothing are ditching reels for flies for a four pack of sneakers inspired by fishing.
The End. Clothing x Adidas “Fly-Fishing” collection includes two colorways each for the Tobacco and Mocaturf, the former of which is a leisure sneaker that dates back to 1972 and takes cues from the Samba and Gazelle. Each sneaker in the capsule uses a color scheme modeled after a different fish, which is then depicted with a custom graphic.
End.’s Tobacco two variants feature a suede upper with leather overlays in “Ecru Tint” and “Wild Pine.” “Ecru Tint” opts for an off-white upper with brown striping and a green mustache sitting atop a brown sole unit. As the most colorful of the entire collection, “Wild Pine” hosts a green upper with pink striping and liner, as well as a white mustache and brown sole.
The Mocaturf, a more modern sneaker fit for the outdoors, then then arrives in dark and light monochromatic arrangements with a suede upper inspired by moccasins. “White Tint” gets a sand-colored look with tan accents including contrast stitching, mustache and outsole. Ironically named “Sand,” the other variant hosts a more dynamic color-blocking in several shades of brown.
While the Samba and Gazelle were intended for soccer, Adidas introduced the Tobacco in the early ’70s as an out-and-out lifestyle shoe. For those who consider the Gazelle an alternative to the more-hyped Samba, the Tobacco can be seen as an alternative to the alternative.
For the “Fly-Fishing” collection’s campaign, End. and Adidas have cast grime rapper Biz Zuu as a model. An accompanying apparel and accessory range consist of cargo pants, fishing vests, T-shirts, sweats and a bucket hat.
The End. Clothing x Adidas “Fly-Fishing” Tobacco and Mocaturf will release May 31 exclusively through End. Clothing. The boutique’s Manchester location will also host a fishing competition Saturday, May 25, in which items from the collection can be won as prizes. Pricing for the Mocaturfs is set at $160, while the tobacco will cost $125.
