Adidas Supports the Uganda Skate Scene with Fresh Sneakers

Uganda is a country in East Africa that is known for its extreme beauty, plethora of wild animals, and unfortunately, its low economic status, resulting in societal hardships. Before the past few years, it was extremely rare to find a skateboard anywhere in Uganda, in fact, many locals had never seen a skateboard in person.

One man, 28 year old Gerald Gose, who lived in Uganda changed this pattern, and after being introduced to skateboarding from an outside traveler, he created a skateboard scene Uganda, from the ground up. Gerald started the organization called the Uganda Skateboard Society, and worked with locals, volunteers, and NGOs to gather materials and supplies to build their skatepark, which by the way is quite possibly one of the gnarliest DIYs we have seen.

Companies, supporters of the Uganda skate community, and organizations began sending off the necessary materials needed to get community members skating; decks, trucks, wheels, grip tape, and clothing.

Adidas had been a huge supporter in the Uganda skate scene, sending shoes to get members in the community. On September 20th, the Uganda Skateboard Society documented the donation one of the locals received, giving a glimpse of the impact that just one pair of shoes can have on a skateboarder in the community.

This man, named Calvin, received himself a fresh pair of Adidas Matchbreak Supers, in which he instantly threw them on and started skating… no break-in period necessary.
