Despite their reputation for making some of the best running shoes, Nike and Adidas have considerable bona fides in making outdoor gear. Nike’s ACG and Trail lines include durable hiking pants and trail running sneakers among other styles. Adidas’ Terrex line has an impressive array of gear, ranging from ski jackets to waterproof packs, and even hiking sneakers—one of which was just discounted by more than $70.

Adidas’ Terrex Swift R3 GTX Hiking Shoe is now on sale for as low as $88—up to 45% off the typical $160 price. These top-rated shoes have earned more than 800 five-star ratings at Backcountry with four colors to choose from in sizes 8 through 14.

These shoes are made with a Gore-Tex membrane, which keeps water out while allowing air to escape for optimal waterproof breathability. They feature a durable rubber sole made by Continental, a German tire manufacturer, with a deep enough tread that makes them capable of handling tough, uneven terrain. Rubberized overlays on the toe and around the heel provide stability and protection from accidental stubs, and cushioning from the EVA midsole and the lightweight upper lets you stay on the trail longer without foot fatigue.

Shoppers appreciated the style and functionality of these hiking shoes, with one calling it “great for the street or the trail,” while another said that it was “a good, durable shoe that can last, especially on tough trails or in rainy weather.”

Many praised the way the shoes handled wet conditions. One shopper called them “perfectly waterproof” and added that they have “great grip on wet surfaces.” Another shopper summed up the many selling points of the Swift R3, speaking highly of the “very solid build,” adding that they’re “fully waterproof, warm, and [have] great grip for off-road hiking/walking.”

The rubber outsole was particularly popular with one specific shopper, who praised the “fantastic looks” and the “nice grippy sole.” Another who used them as a disc golf shoe wrote that the “grip is off the charts,” adding that the “sole doesn’t slip when you plant your foot.”

Sizes are already starting to sell out in some colors of the Adidas Terrex Swift R3 GTX Hiking Shoe. If you’re a sneakerhead and a hiker, this might be the perfect shoe for you, but act fast, because they won't be around forever at this price.
