Adding a Fresh Pop of Neon to a Classic Wedding at 10-11 Carlton House Terrace

The 80's child in me is doing a happy dance that neon is back in a big way. But this shoot is not your childhood scrunchie and puffy paint standard fare. Instead it's a classic meets modern infusion of wedding decor, with a fun pop of neon crafted by Revelry Events, with florals by Bloomologie and imagery by Fiona Kelly Photography. For our inspiration shoot at 10-11 Carlton House Terrace, a famously fashionable historical building close to Buckingham Palace, we wanted to produce a composition of contrasts. A grand, stately building ideal for conferences and traditional wedding styles, reimagined for a millennial couple.

The character of the venue's Music Room brought the classic, and our styling of it brought the contemporary. We used dark greys, black, neon whites, and millennial blush pinks to bring modern layers to a neo-classical building.

Ali from Bloomologie adorned our dark tables with the most gorgeous pink roses, peach peonies and stark white orchids, with just the right amount of greenery to really pop off of the dark background. Her creation out of the historic fireplace, planted grass florals bookending the neon signage, brought with it an organic element to contrast the neon's modern feel.

The ghost chairs were another must-have for our design in that you wanted a chair that would simultaneously disappear into the room without looking overwhelming, and at the same time bring in the modern touch.

Our groom had two looks from Keye London, both bringing in the velvet trend to his ensemble which we felt joined together the old and new feel. The bride's Charlie Brear gowns were eye-popping against the classical backdrop. One, modern polkadot separates, and two, a sultry satin dress with a low-cut neckline.

Our stationery was built around the idea of monochrome and modern transparents - using lucite signage and neon-white calligraphy on powerful blocks of black.
