Turmeric is having a 24-karat kind of moment. Incredibly versatile and packed with antioxidants and the anti-inflammatory compound curcumin, the healthy gilt-hued spice is showing up in everything from lattes to popcorn. Even if traditional turmeric dishes aren't your taste, you can still get a regular dose of the superfood. No mater what you're making, the spice is easily incorporated. "Turmeric has a great aroma and tastes neutral, so it works in sweet and savory foods," says Brooke Williamson, Top Chef winner and a co-chef-owner of Playa Provisions and the Tripel in Los Angeles. An iced almond milk turmeric latte is the perfect pick-me-up on a warm afternoon. Blend 1 tablespoon chopped fresh turmeric, 1 teaspoon chopped fresh ginger, 1 tablespoon honey, and 1 cup almond milk until smooth and frothy. Strain over an ice-filled glass and enjoy.
