Adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing in the Works

Amazon MGM Studios is adding to its catalogue of book adaptations by announcing that a TV show based on Rebecca Yarros' Fourth Wing is in the works.

Published on May 2 this year, the book has made an impact with fantasy fiction fans around the world and has spent 24 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list. It made a splash on what TikTok users call "BookTok", which is a subcommunity on the app that focuses on books and literature.

Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society has acquired the rights not just to Fourth Wing but to its sequel, Iron Flame, which hits shelves November 7. It also acquired the rights for the three remaining books that are planned for the series dubbed The Empyrean series.

Yarros will serve as executive producer with Liz Pelletier for Entangled Publishing.

The logline for the show says: Enter the brutal world of Basgiath War College where there is only one rule: Graduate or Die. Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail expected to live a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general― her tough-as-talons mother―has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. If the fire-breathing beasts don't kill her, one of her fellow riders just might. Suspense, action, romance, and dragons blend together in a propulsive fantasy adventure from NYT bestselling author Rebecca Yarros.

No further talent is attached to the series yet.
